Computer does not recognize GPS

Oh dear , this is not my weekend.

I have a MacBook Pro running 10.6.6 . I have a Garmin extrex Vista HCx. For the last three years these two have been happily compatible but alas after being away for 9 months overseas ( and forgetting my GPS) returned home for a bit of R & R and some caching. Alas the GPS is no longer recognized by my computer. I have downloaded the latest Garmin communicator plug in 4.0.1.0. I have also tried the GPS on my other G4 unit and that also does not recognize the GPS where as it used to. So it would seem that perhaps something at the GPS end is amiss. I have tried different cables, variations in switching the GPS On and off /Mac on and off , and have reached the end of my limited technical expertise.

Fellow GPS/Mac users far wiser and technical than me can you help ?

Dear GPS's - ignore the above plea. I tried a third cable and recognition occurred . And I downloaded an updated Communicator plug in which fixed a previous bug - for Macs _ and voila . I am now back in the game. Onward and upward , now to see if I can solve the sned Pocket Queries ( with hint) to
my GPS. Mmmmm ... perhaps I will just lie on the floor and look at the ceiling for awhile.
