Don't forget http://www.zenbu.co.nz/search/findnearest?q=motel&l=christchurch+airport. Give them your flight details and ask if they have a free shuttle to pick you up.
I love it that when you ROT13 "GREEN", you get "TERRA". There is something quite Zen about that

Due to the expected large number of people on site including children, no. However assistant dogs, such as guide dogs, are allowed.

What's the current availability of on site accommodation? Tent sites, cabins, etc.

Plenty of tent or campervan spots available, and some cabins & bunks. So which ever you are after there is space, at this point. :)

Hi Gav -

I wasn't sure how to contact you so decided to try this approach!

I'll be attending the MEGA with my brother. I know you'll be extremely busy BUT we have just started planning for a MEGA event - WestCan3 - which will be called Living Skies 2014. This will be held In Saskatchewan (Canada) - our first! - probably July 2014. I (foolishly?) volunteered to head up the Finance Committee. So we are looking for all the advice we can get!! what to do and what not to do and how you handle the finance end of things. Any chance you - or someone else on the planning group - might have a bit of time to spare for me sometime between Thursday and Monday or Tuesday of the MEGA weekend? We've rented a campervan so have some flexibility in our time.

Thanks Gav!!

Absolutely - probably best to hit up both Moneydork and myself if you can. Friday will be a no-go. Saturday will be pretty busy, but anytime from Saturday onwards should be fine :)

A question about Meals

Postby Guwapo » 01-10-2012 13:52

A question about Meals.

Could someone clarify the situation with ordering and paying for meals on-site. Am I correct in reading from the latest newsletter that those who want meals have to order and pay for them before the 12th October.

If this is the case this doesn't leave a lot of flexibility for people who (a) have pre-ordered/pre-paid meals now but are having such a good time caching they decide to stay out caching and miss the meal they paid for, or (b) others who may have accommodation off-site and are visiting friends at the site and decide to stay for a meal but haven't pre-ordered/pre-paid for it.

Thanks

Postby Guwapo » 01-10-2012 14:03

Will there be a set time(s) that trackables will be available for viewing and will there be a set time when trackables will be available for collection?

Thanks

Yes, there will be times for viewing & swapping trackables that are going to be moving on at the event. Times will be finalised when we confirm how many volunteers are helping out with the 'Geocoin Shack.'

This will NOT include people's personal trackables though, as we have strongly advised people to keep their own trackables with them. It maybe that people interested in comparing & admiring personal trackables arrange a 'bar camp' to do that.

There was information in the most recent newsletter which was emailed out.

FunDayParty would like to participate in this event as a spo

Postby FunDayParty » 02-10-2012 21:39

Good day NZ GPS Society,

I'm a representative of FunDayParty - Theme Parties and Party Games, and because we are organizing special themed events as well we would like to participate in this event with some interesting treasure hunt activity as well! We would be interested to provide an activity that Geocachers would be able to do any time. We would set up few caches around the area, that would be part of a game that we would provide and at the end we would give some prizes (geo containers, trackables etc.) to 3 or more geocachers. If you are interested in our idea then please provide us with all info that we would need to know.

For more information about us please visit our web site: www.FunDayParty.com
E-mail: FunDayPartyInfo@gmail.com

Thanks for answer and see you soon!

Kind regards,

Sorry to hear that Barb. Thank you for making such a generous offer. I hope someone is able to take you up on it.

p.s. Weather is looking quite good this morning, so far at least.
