Well, we have 40 that have registered interest in just over an hour - so it is off to a good start. And the Australians are just leading ;)

And off to bed after a successful evening. Eighty registrations of interest already, although the Australians are already outnumbering the Kiwi's 2:1 - better get registering Kiwi's!!! ;)

Have never been to a mega before - there will be no accommodation available at the venue right? Want to get a booking in in Dunedin in time! (Dunedin at Labour weekend last year I didn't book early enough and ended up staying at a dirty backpackers!)

When will a list of activities be available to view, as this is what will decide many on going to the event, presuming there are some activities :?:

Or is it like a MEGA 3 day easter event ?

We have a tentative programme, not yet public as it is still very early in development. But yes, there are planned to be quite a few activities for those that want to participate in them. Most programmed events will be on the Saturday and Sunday. Friday will primarily be for arrival, setup, registration and 'ice-breaking'; and Monday will be for packing up, CITO, departing etc. You don't have to stay for the whole time of course, but the longer you stay the better :)

And given the scale of MEGA events, we will, in due course, be looking for people that are willing to co-ordinate/run events within the programme. So it will be more like the 'OZ MEGA' than the 'Easter Event'.

Keep the Registrations Of Interest (ROI) flowing in - we've nearly hit 150 people interested in just 12 hours. The sooner we get to 500, the sooner we can get an event listed on the site, and become more 'official'. The registration is not a commitment, but a strong indicator that you want to attend. We are also collecting the questions that people have via the ROI, and will endeavor to start answering these and adding more information to the website. Accommodation is of course a big one and one of the first areas will be fleshing out a lot more detail on.

At this point? Nope :)

We will be publishing more detailed information over the coming weeks about various aspects of the MEGA so that booking for things like travel and accommodation can start well in advance.

We will be posting updates to our website, and those that have registered and interest, have also been added to a 'announcement' email list that we will push out updates to you as they become available.

There will be camping sites and are some cabins available at the venue.
We still need to sort out pricing and booking arrangements for these.

"Located just 10 minutes drive from Dunedin’s city centre, "

but if I click through to the Waiora Camp page

"A mere 15 minutes from the heart of Dunedin"

So.... Dunedin has had a heart transplant (Carisbrook maybe?) 8) , or Scouts are more law abiding than geocachers?

Quite possibly. Certainly compared to some cachers I've seen drive ;)

We might tweak that one. Thanks.

But Gavin, the speed limit in NT is 130 km/hr so that doesn't count ;)

I thing he's trying to say that it only counts to the extent that we were exceeding 130km/hr.
