OK, first question to me (if I'm quick enough) ...

What accommodation is there in Mosgiel and Dunedin that has wireless internet, preferably free?
I'd rather be geocaching!

I use the Zenbu wireless system when travelling as it is charged by data use, not time and is very reasonable at 10c per MB.

Over 800 Zenbu Wi-Fi hotspots around New Zealand and the Cook Islands.

Here's the map: www.zenbu.net.nz/new-zealand-wi-fi-hotspots-map

Some motels issue a free starter pack with this system as well. By buying a voucher on-line you can use the credit at any zenbu hotspot, not just the motel where you're staying. I think the credit lasts 12 months. Handy if driving through a town and you spot a motel with a zenbu sign - I park outside on the road, check the mail, then carry on. The motel operator is paid for the data I use via their system so it's all very fair.

Last trip I was very organised and made a custom POI of zenbu hotspots so it was easier to see them coming up.

This zenbu search for motel + zenbu near Dunedin may help too: www.zenbu.co.nz/search/findnearest?q=motel+zenbu&l=dunedin

Also, it's great to be able to support zenbu of course as the Open Project POI are based there.

Actually they're not the same thing (although the Zenbu wireless network is owned by a friend of the guy that owns the Zenbu website)

Oh - OK, thanks Gary for the clarification - I assumed Sam had the wireless service as well.

One other thing with the zenbu wireless is that there's no out-going mail SMTP thing. A bit of a nuisance for luddites like me with mail on my laptop - so I subscribe to a smtp service as mentioned in the FAQ.

I'm sure our organising commitee will be keen to showcase our virtual number 8 wire technology and will be arranging that at the venue itself :D

We are endeavouring to organise this, ideally through a commercial sponsor.

That site seems a bit of a dog to use (sorry dog lovers  ) ... think I'll stick to Wotif and AA Travel for now. Thanks anyway, Cam.
Found a couple of places in Mosgiel offering free WiFI internet using Wotif.

Re Zenbu Networks - thanks for the suggestion, Tony. I already know about it and have an account (with over 60MB still to use at the moment), but my preference is for free internet, if possible.

Re Zenbu (search/POIs) - I've seen it before, but haven't really used it ... must take another look some time.

Thanks. Your post fills me with warm feelings and Im so happy I tried to assist. Nothing less than expected though on the backhand. Trip advisor is the leader in ratings of accomadation, but you knew that of course as I notice you travel all around the country every few weeks staying in hotels/\motels...
Next time Ill just stay under my rock.

Cam, I'm sorry you don't like my candor, and I'm sorry you misunderstood me - I wasn't meaning that the site you suggested (Trip Advisor) was useless (which I'm sure it isn't), but I didn't find it as "user friendly" as some others I have encountered, e.g. Wotif.

Trip Advisor may be a "leader in the ratings of accommodation", but it definitely isn't a leader in the accessing and presenting of its information. I may not travel as much as others, but I do like to research things, and where/when possible, to do so thoroughly and efficiently.
I'd rather be geocaching!

Around about S45 48.972 E170 24.664 :)

Coords are where the main activities at the camp will take place, and will be very close to listed coordinates probably.

I think we have registered our interest in this Mega, but now I'm not sure. How can I find out if we have?
