Possible Garmin ANT+ adapter for iPhone in development

I called for this a while ago (somewhere, maybe on Garmin's Facebook page) - it appears that a recent FCC filing indicates that a Garmin ANT+ adapter for iPhone may be about to hit the market. This would rock, as it would allow the development of applications to enable, for example, downloading new caches, and then beaming them (via ANT+) to your 'proper' caching GPS ;)

And... released. Garmin Ant+ for iPhone, and the Garmin Fit application. Alas, I don't expected we will see this device supported in the Groundspeak Geocaching.com iPhone application anytime soon - given Groundspeaks disinterest in supporting Chirps... (1, 2) :(

And a little more digging shows what is likely to be the main contender to ANT+ for this sort of low-power technology - Bluetooth Smart. Bluetooth Smart has been included in the iPhone 4S (1, 2), so I'm guessing we'll see a lot more BT Smart products on the market before long. I wonder if Garmin has picked the wrong horse to support here?
