Wanna practice self-moderation?

Postby rediguana » 17-12-2011 12:58

Just wanted to remind forum users of a somewhat hidden, but sometimes useful self-moderation tool.

If you find a particular user, or what they say, annoying, you can hide all their posts on the forums. For example, if you dislike what I say, then you can click on my forum name, and then click 'Add Foe'. This will result in all posts from me not being shown to you, unless you explicitly click on the link to expose each post from me.

At this point, I don't believe the 'Add Friend' feature does anything in the template we're using.

Just want to make sure everyone is aware of this feature.

I use this feature all the time, so I haven't seen any of the offending posts. :-#

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Can now safely return to this forum without seeing the usual drivel spoiling otherwise interesting conversations.

Phew! it's not a call to abstain for the game after all

Good facility, must use it to ignore all the "commercial interests"

I'm pleased to say that I haven't felt the need to use this facility here, but I do have two on my list on the Oz forums. I've also got their PMs being filtered straight to trash!

I've been tempted to use that facility regarding a particular member on occasions, but have resisted doing so because even that :-# says something worthwhile from time to time.
I'd rather be geocaching!

And that is why every post from anyone you've marked as a Foe comes up with an easy 'click to see this post' link.
