Hi and a plug for KiwiGPS

Postby GerryAttrick » 23-12-2009 09:44

Just wanted to say Hi and give KiwiGps a plug for their excellent service.

I am new to the GPS scene although I do have an OEM unit in my BMW car - cost of updates is an expensive $800 per time.

I was looking for a unit for my wife and after reading about KiwiGps here I emailed Tony for some advice. he provided excellent advice, did not try to make me buy from him and in fact suggested that there were places such as Hardly Normal who might have units at less than cost.

After considering his advice I decided that I would stick with someone I felt comfortable with and ordered a Nuvi 765 from KiwiGPS. It arrived with 48 hours, preloaded with the latest OpenSource maps , a CD which I have yet to run and a detailed list of what software was on the CD and some words of advice. =D>

If the unit is as good as the service then I am going to be well pleased with this unit (or my wife will be...a Freudian slip there!) [-X

One question - what information do you require if I should ,heaven forbid, notice any errors in the Open Source Maps and want to help get them corrected....GPS location, description of error or what?

For the NZOGPS maps - we would certainly welcome any feedback - that's mainly how we make the maps better.
The main forum is at http://gwprojects.org/forum/. Most of the info you want is under 'NZ maps'.
I wrote a guide to giving feedback - which is at: http://gwprojects.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=313, which should get you started. The main thing is just to locate the appropriate topic for your area (which relates to which map tile the problem is on) - and press the 'post reply' button.

...and three years later I have experienced the same excellent service from Tony as well. I'm a newbie to all things GPS and I have found him very responsive logistcally and advisory.
