G'day from across the ditch,

I'm coming over from South West Island (also known as South Australia) tomorrow, and I have created an Event Cache for Sunday 9-10-11 at Petone. It's brunch (10:00 for a 10:30 start) and is at http://coord.info/GC34KTJ.
I'm an ex-pat coming to watch some rugby, show the family some of the North Island, and cache on!

I hope to meet a few cachers on Sunday at the event. :D

Cheers,
Graeme.

11.11.11 World Wide Multi-Event Caches

Postby 10centcoin » 13-10-2011 23:00

There have been some cool geocaching events around the country in recent weeks, and next month is looking particularly busy with a number of 11.11.11 World Wide Multi-Event Caches. Specifically, the ones in New Zealand I am aware of are:

There is a handy international list put together by Guwapu here

All the NZ Events look like they are going to be a lot of fun, but I just wanted to give a special mention to huge efforts going on to organise the one in Auckland for those who will be up this way on that date. A significant amount of effort (persuasion, negotiation, and plain old arm twisting!) has gone into the sponsorship of various prizes (over $1000 so far!!! =D> ) and it promises to be a really great event. The Auckland event follows on from the very successful Ten Ten Ten Ten (Auckland, New Zealand) event last year.

Hope to see you there! :D

Upcoming events in Christchurch...

Avoid the Xmas Rush - Have a Beer Instead! - 22 DEC 2011
Fish n Chips in the Park - 22 JAN 2012
Getting Back on Track - 29 FEB 2012

And also want to plug a reminder of the NZ MEGA in October 2012 in Dunedin. We now have approximately 400 registrations of interest, and we'd love to get to 500 so we can get the MEGA listed on geocaching.com. If you have yet registered, and you're interested in attending, please do register! :)

Also, make sure that your fellow geocachers are aware and have registered, and if you are attending a cache event, make sure to promote it :)

Hi there,

We are coming over from the UK, leaving on 24th Dcember, and will be in the Waimate / Dunedin / Queenstown area around the 1st two week in January.

Are there any events planned for this period at all? Anything on 12th Jan would be good as it is Clare's 40th Birthday.

Our annual Waitangi Weekend campout and BBQ event will be at the Kauaeranga Valley this year.
Come along for one or both days, and stretch your legs in the Coromandel Ranges, before tucking into a BBQ feed.

Visit the event page here...http://coord.info/GC39A2P

At 4:30 we'll stoke up the BBQ, followed by tall tales of caching well into the late hours for those opting to camp overnight.

Gisborne get together

Postby Graeme.N » 20-12-2011 23:59

Probably too late to get an event cache published (guidelines say 2 weeks minimum) and I'm not sure how many of the (small) target audience frequent these forums ...

I'm in Gisborne for about a week (depart Tuesday 27th December) and am interested in touching base with (local) geocachers in this vicinity. Not sure where or when ... either post your suggestion(s) here or PM me (either via here or GC.com).

Yes - I know I should have gotten on to this weeks (or months) ago, but I hadn't thought of it while in front of a computer prior to tonight! :( #-o
I'd rather be geocaching!

If you are in the Mackenzie country over the holidays and after a days boating, walking, mountain biking, or geocaching and think it might be time for a quiet ale or two then come join us.
