Possibly 2 degrees? http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/prepay/ ... ional-data - They're friendly, helpful, speak real English if you need it, I think you still only pay $5 for the sim, and if it wasn't for them, Telecom and Vodafone would still be twice the price.

Vodafone charge $29.00 for a pre pay sim, then $20 bucks minium top up. Dont think 2 degrees has bothered them that much looking at that price difference.

If you go with 2º just be careful you buy the right data package, if you are going outside the main centres then you will need the national data packs.
But if you are staying in their network range http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/mobileb ... dbandzones then you can buy http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/prepay/ ... -broadband these are much cheaper for the amount of data you get.

Also vodafone now have a 2gig prepay plan for $50 http://www.vodafone.co.nz/shop/mobileDe ... b=overview

Possibly not but they do provide coverage
(also some good info on their 3G coverage on that page for those interested)

Where two degrees do not have their own kit they have an arrangement with Vodafone to provide service for them, transparent to the customer. So Vodafone and two degrees coverage is almost identical.

That's not always a good comparison to be making ;) (based on my experience with Voda whilst caching)

True - what I meant to say and what I said where not necessarily synchronised correctly. #-o

As per the.puds post above they do not have mobile broadband coverage - there are no zones in Dunedin - so you will need to get the appropriate national data pack. For everything else - calling, texting, it's just like the Vodafone network - because it is the Vodafone network.

Correct... the official line.

Actually, yes there is. Most of their sites are already in and many are already running. By the time the Mega is up and running you'll find they have coverage that rivals or betters both Telecom & Vodafone in Dunedin. As for out at the Mega site, I'm not sure yet.

Watch this space is all I'll say officially of course.

Actually, this map provides a useful overview of cell sites. If you zoom into Dunedin, there are quite a few 2d sites marked.
