Garmin Nuvi50 Address Search

I have downloaded the exe file from the nz open gps and have installed it. I have loaded the NZ maps (10 of them) using Mapsource and everything seems ok .. BUT ... if I try to enter an address via "Where To" "Address" "Spell Town" e.g. "Wellington" I get the result of "No Matches"

On the Open GPS site I saw a note on Nuvi How To that said "when doing an address search on a Nuvi/Zumo, use the search all cities option rather than spell city option", ok, but my Nuvi50 doesn't give me an option to "search all cities" that I can see. Can someone answer my problem of inputting a street address ?

What else is on the "Where To" > "Address" > "Spell Town" page?

Is the nuvi showing on the map page as being in NZ?

Yes it is showing Select Town in NZ
My Bad, Options are "Spell Town" "Search All"
If I Search all, then <Enter House Number> say 20 <Enter Street> say Levers Rd next screen "No matches found"
Have checked Map Info and it shows as pictured on NZ Open GPS "Nuvi how to" page.
I backed up original files that were on the GPS drive. Can I just copy those files back to the GPS and my GPS be back to as supplied?

So did you select "Search All"? I set up a nuvi 30 last week and this worked OK.

Did you search in all upper case for the street name? Endless topics on that issue along with modified keyboards that output all upper case.

Yes I used Search All
No My keyboard automatically uses cap on first letter of each word then changes to lowercase for rest of word.

OK, the upper case is the issue. Enter the address in all upper case and it should find the street OK. This keyboard thing is an issue with all the recent nuvi with 4 model numbers and the new 30/40/50 models.

Older units like 265, 765 etc were fine with capital 1st then lower case letters.

Next, can keyboard be locked in Caps?

No, there's no Caps Lock however it is possible to edit the keyboard file using Notepad (or similar).

This is where it get's tricky. There were several keyboard files linked on the forums here but after a few (including myself ) used the wrong keyboard the units became little bricks. Recovery is possible but not - at - all - easy.

I don't think I've got the courage to try installing a new keyboard with the warnings given on Downloads page.

I now have a nuvi 50 too so made an uppercase keyboard file. Refer to the Open Project forum here.
